Administrative Assistant - Grade 12
Position Details:
Salary: starting at $22.14 / hour (DOE)
Status: Non-Exempt/Full Time
Department: Assessing

Summary of Position:
This position provides administrative support for the work of the City Assessor’s Office.
Major Duties:
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; responds to mail and email correspondence; provides information and assistance.
- Enters and updates a variety of information in the computer-aided mass-appraisal (CAMA) system.
- Performs supervised field work; takes photographs and collects field data; updates permit information.
- Pays and posts invoices.
- Records monthly permit data; prints summaries.
- Records monthly sales; mails sales and home construction questionnaire to new homeowners.
- Maintains office supply inventory and reorders as needed.
- Prepares and mails a variety of correspondence to property owners.
- Scans old photographs and sketches into computerized database.
- Performs related duties.
Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of modern office principles and practices.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of property assessment principles and practices.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in the use of copiers, printers, and other office equipment.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Senior Real Property Appraiser Technician
- Possession of or ability to obtain appropriate certification from the North Dakota Tax Commission and completion of a three-month apprenticeship within the department.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Real Property Appraiser Technician.
- Experienced in the Assessing software used by the department.
